This model is designed for use with faster-whisper. To use it, set the model_name=freddierice/openwhisper-turbo-large-v3-ct2.

🔧 Technical Details

How they were made

I used the weights pulled from: https://github.com/openai/whisper/commit/25e5c364e0a21ddefee46adb674c591f1ba610ba

Then used the conversion tool here to create a hugging face transformer: https://github.com/huggingface/transformers/blob/main/src/transformers/models/whisper/convert_openai_to_hf.py (using the english tokenizer)

Then I used the ct2-transformers-converter tool to convert the model to CTranslate2.
